About Me

Lauren is a cinematographer and hates writing bios.

I started this blog as a way to kill time, indulge in some narcissism, and keep myself writing. It slowly started forming into a journal about making my way as a fairly new cinematographer, and a place to write from the perspective of being a female in that field. Hoping it will encourage other aspiring DP's out there.

I went to film school at USC's School of Cinematic Arts. Started shooting short films. Spent some time teaching 16mm camera techniques at the Colorado Film School, and after that signed on with an educational non-profit— The Binning Family Foundation— teaching life skills through video production to alternative-learning youth. I also lead an after-school film school program for teens. It was one of the most rewarding jobs ever.

I'm in LA now, still shooting short films and music videos while working with the production company Rocketjump.

Favorite DP's: Roger Deakins, Ellen Kuras, Anette Haellmigk, and Bill Pope.

Gonna try to update my Youtube Channel soon...
